ABOUT BOB

Local History

Trudy and I were married in 1993 and moved to Finn Hill in 1998.  All three of our children attended Northshore Junior High and Inglemoor High School, with our youngest (Trinity) being a sophomore at Inglemoor today (Trinity also attended Moorlands).  In addition to our family life, I spent all of my teenage years on Finn Hill, attending Finn Hill Jr and Juanita High School (Class of 1983).  

Service

Our largest investment of time and resources has been here, raising our children and supporting programs our family has participated in. I have joyfully spent many years coaching baseball, softball, and soccer for my kids, and have served in many other capacities, including:

  • Catholic Community Services, St. Martin’s Shelter Programs Golf Tournament Board Member (current)

  • St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church, Kirkland.  Past and current volunteer in a variety of ministries such as hospital outreach (Evergreen Hospital), youth education, and music ministry.

  • Inglemoor HS DECA, one year as a business mentor and a judge at the regional competition. 

  • Inglemoor HS Softball Boosters 

  • Past President of SODO Rotary.

  • Past Young Life volunteer leader, Juanita HS Club

Experience

My professional background in both the public and private sectors has allowed me to develop a skillset that I believe will be very helpful as a Board member.   My first career position after graduating from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Political Science was working for the Washington State Senate as a Research Analyst providing research and data analysis for members of the Senate Transportation and Higher Education Committees.  

Over the last 17 years, I have been a commercial real estate broker, with the last 13 years as a senior broker and partner at NAI Puget Sound Properties, where I sell and lease land and industrial and office properties, and provide real estate consulting services.  

Below are a few of the skills that I've acquired as real estate broker and business owner:

  • Financial analysis regarding investment costs and returns.

  • Negotiating purchase & sale agreements and leases, lease extensions and lease buyouts.

  • Operating expense reviews and audits

  • Current and future valuation of commercial real estate.

  •  Reviewing property zoning, construction code guidelines, and permitting processes.

  • Space planning and contractor bidding processes for tenant improvements and structural repairs.

  • Arbitration
