ABOUT LINDA
Education isn’t just a priority—it’s part of who I am
Public education has been a constant and valued part of my life from an early age. My mother was a special education teacher, and I grew up with a strong appreciation for the role of public schools in shaping opportunity and community. As a teenager, I spent many evenings helping my mother prepare materials—whether it was flashcards, games, or other tools for her students, which left a lasting impression on me. I attended public schools in Massachusetts through grade 12, then went on to earn my undergraduate degree from Tufts University and an MBA from Boston College. It was at Tufts that I met my husband, George Guzzi. We moved to Newton in 2005 and have two children: Luca, a rising college junior and Marina, who is graduating from Newton North this year and heading off to college in the fall.
Engaged in our community
Since moving to Newton in 2005, I have been an active member of the community. Before my children entered the public schools, they attended Riverside Children’s Center, where I served on the Board of Directors. Once they began elementary school at Cabot, I served as President of the Board of Directors for the Cabot After School Program (CASP) and took part in a principal search process. Most recently, I served as Co-President of the Newton North Boosters Association. I also volunteer as a Land Steward for Newton’s Conservation Office.
A career built on collaboration and results
I’ve spent my entire professional career in marketing, with the majority of that time in leadership roles within the commercial real estate industry. I’ve also held marketing positions in healthcare and technology, allowing me to broaden my perspective and skill set. These experiences have helped me refine my strengths in:
• Leadership
• Budget management
• Data-driven decision-making
• Collaborative cross-functional teamwork
Each of these skills has prepared me to approach complex challenges with both strategic insight and a spirit of partnership—qualities I look forward to bringing to the School Committee.
